Abiba Jacket - Guinea Fowl
Handwoven and hand dyed cotton from Northern Ghana. The Abiba Jacket is a shorter version of the popular Theca Coat. It features one inside pocket and a slim rolled lapel. Loose-fitting, unlined and blazer-esque, the Abiba is perfect for layering. These jackets are beautifully finished inside with piping on all seam allowances.
The Guinea Fowl textile has a rich history, and was traded across the Sahel as a currency long before colonization in West Africa. Stripweaving from northern Ghana is now primarily made into Batakari, a loose smock that northern men dance and twirl in.
